Creation of Location Master in D365 BC

Creation of Location Master in D365 BC:

(1) In this article, we will get to know about the Locations in Business Central D365. This is required for calculating the Inventory in BC D365. Business Central uses locations to help keep track of inventory in both simple and complex warehouse processes.

(2) Go to the search bar and enter “Location” as shown.

(3) After this, the Location List page opens. For creating a new location, Press the “New” button and if you want to modify the existing location master then double-click on the location and do the modification as per need, as shown.

(4) After that, Location Card opens and enters the information in the fields as per the business requirement. As shown below with details.

Default Bin SelectionDepends upon Business RequirementSpecifies the method used to select the default bin.
Outbound Whse. Handling TimeDepends upon Business RequirementSpecifies a date formula for the time it takes to get items ready to ship from this location. The time element is used in the calculation of the delivery date as follows: Shipment Date + Outbound Warehouse Handling Time = Planned Shipment Date + Shipping Time = Planned Delivery Date.
Inbound Whse. Handling TimeDepends upon Business RequirementSpecifies the time it takes to make items part of available inventory after the items have been posted as received.
Base Calendar CodeDepends upon Business RequirementSpecifies a customizable calendar for planning that holds the location’s working days and holidays.
Customized CalendarDepends upon Business RequirementSpecifies if the location has a customized calendar with working days that are different from those in the company’s base calendar.
Use Cross-DockingDepends upon Business RequirementSpecifies if the location supports the movement of items directly from the receiving dock to the shipping dock.
Cross-Dock Due Date Calc.Depends upon Business RequirementSpecifies the cross-dock due date calculation.

To-Job Bin CodeMandatory as per the feature useSpecifies the bin where an item will be put away or picked in the warehouse and inventory processes at this location. For example, when you choose this location on a job planning line, this bin will be suggested.
